This carefully designed itinerary takes you from the northern coast of Tangier through the blue-painted streets of Chefchaouen, the imperial cities of Fes and Meknes, and deep into the heart of the Sahara Desert before ending in the lively city of Marrakech.
Your adventure begins in Tangier, where you will explore the city’s coastal charm and historical landmarks before heading south to the magical town of Chefchaouen. Nestled in the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen is famous for its blue-washed streets, relaxed atmosphere, and stunning mountain views, offering plenty of time to wander, take photos, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
From there, the journey continues to the imperial city of Fes, one of Morocco’s oldest and most culturally rich cities. In Fes, you will explore the ancient medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, filled with narrow alleys, traditional souks, historic madrasas, and vibrant artisan workshops. You will also visit nearby Meknes, another imperial city known for its grand gates, royal history, and impressive architecture.
Leaving the cities behind, you will travel through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains, passing cedar forests, Berber villages, and beautiful landscapes. Along the way, you may stop in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and Azrou, where you can see Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. The route continues through Midelt and the dramatic Ziz Valley, known for its palm groves and panoramic desert views.
As you approach the Sahara Desert, you will reach Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils and desert gateway atmosphere. Soon after, you arrive at the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga, where the golden sands rise dramatically from the desert floor. Here, you will begin a memorable camel trek across the dunes, especially magical at sunset when the colors of the sand change beautifully.
You will spend the night in a luxury desert camp, enjoying traditional Moroccan cuisine, Berber music, and a peaceful evening under a sky filled with countless stars. This authentic desert experience is often considered the highlight of the entire journey.
After the desert, the tour continues through the breathtaking Todra Gorge, where towering canyon walls create one of Morocco’s most impressive natural wonders. You will then explore the scenic Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations, lush oases, and traditional kasbahs.
The journey then leads to the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages. This historic site has been featured in many international films and offers a fascinating glimpse into Morocco’s ancient architecture and desert heritage.
Finally, you will cross the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass, enjoying breathtaking panoramic views and traditional Berber villages along the way before arriving in Marrakech. We will pick you up at the airport or at the port and start our drive to Chefchaouen where you will spend the night through tétouan. Chefchaouen, Morocco’s majestic blue city is a must-see for tourists. Known for its charming medina and local handicrafts, you will have the evening to experience all the city has to offer.
We begin our journey in the morning after breakfast in the hotel, with a drive to explore Fez, nowadays one of the largest cities in Morocco with a rich and storied history. You will certainly want to explore the medina (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and wander the streets of what is believed to be the world’s largest urban pedestrian zone. We will show you the best parts of this city.
After breakfast in your riad we will start our day. The first stop on our journey will be in Ifrane, known as “Morocco’s Switzerland” because of its chalet type summer homes. Built by the French in 1929 as a cool respite during the hot summer months, this town is known for its gardens and tree lined streets. After Ifrane, our tour continues through the Middle Atlas mountains to Midelt for lunch and on through the High Atlas mountains, into the Ziz valley with stops for picture taking of the panoramas. We stop to visit the village of Erfoud, an oasis town known for its fossils. We arrive at the Erg-Chebbi dunes with an astounding height of 150 meters and where you will do the camel ride to the camp. After an hour-long camel ride through the sand dunes, you will arrive at your camp for dinner and enjoy some music by the fireside, under the star and moonlit desert sky. This camp has everything you will need for a cozy night in your tent.
The next morning you will want to wake up early to enjoy the magical sunrise among the sand dunes followed by breakfast. After breakfast, we will start our tour around the Erg-Chebbi area with a visit to a nomad family then on to have lunch in a small village called Khamlia. After lunch we will drive you back to the camp.

We begin our drive back to Erfoud, next we are off to a small village called Jorf. In this village you will visit an underground system of irrigation, a marvel of technology from ancient times. After Jorf, we will continue on to Todra valley with its beautiful palm orchards and old Berber-Jewish Kasbahs. We will explore the Todra gorges, a splendid series of 300 m deep, limestone river canyons. After lunch in Todra valley we will continue on our way to Dades valley where you will spend the night in a lovely hotel.

We will have plenty of time to follow the ancient trading route through the Roses valley to the Skoura valley, known as the valley with a thousand kasbahs. Skoura’s historic mud brick kasbahs dot the valley, a testament to the ancient desert traders who made the two month journey across the Sahara. After Skoura we will drive to visit the ait Ben-Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the most famous and historic places in Morocco. Then continue our journey to the riad in Marrakech.
